-O –Alaikum. I am pleased to announce that KEMCAANA is introducing
a new award, KEMCAANA Young Investigator Award starting this year. The
concept and details of this award are as follows:
KEMCAANA Young Investigator Award
Introduction
KEMCAANA
values academic rigor, encourages scientific advancement and cherishes
individual achievement.
KEMCAANA
Young Investigator Award will be given annually to Young Kemcolians practicing
in North America in recognition of outstanding contribution to research
(Basic or Clinical) or scientific advancement of clinical practices by
virtue of introducing novel approaches, including but not limited to new
and improvised tools / Patents for delivery of exceptional patient care.
Objective
To
promote research and foster scholarly activities by KE graduates in North
America.
Categories:
A:
Residents and Fellows
B:
Post Residency / Fellowship
To
be eligible for Category B, the Research / Clinical work should have been
done within five years of completion of post graduate training.
Number
of awards: One in each category
The
Award
1.
Cash award of $1000.00
2. Plaque
3. To be presented at the annual Summer meeting of KEMCAANA
4. Award winners will have an Honorable mention and a
summary of their work published in the KEMCAANA annual Magazine.
5. Permanent Recognition of Award Recipients on the KEMCAANA
Website.
6. Residents/ Fellows will be reimbursed for travel to
the meeting to a maximum of $ 500.00
Eligibility
Requirement
The
applicants will be
•
KE graduates within 15 years of graduation practicing in North America.
For the year 2009, the last class to be eligible will be graduates of
1994. Verification of training status as a Resident or Fellow may be required
•
Research / Clinical work should have been published, accepted for publication,
presented or accepted for presentation at a Peer Reviewed national forum
such as a scientific society meeting or a peer reviewed scientific journal
within one year of application. Accepted manuscripts, Scientific Abstracts
and posters are examples of work considered.
Selection
Criteria
The
Awards Committee will consist of five KEMCAANA members serving on the
Faculty of North American Medical institutions. Award selection will be
based upon standard criteria including originality, methodology, presentation
and quality of work.
