M. Masood Akbar, M.D. KE 1973
President KEMCAANA 2010

Dear Kemcolians,

Assalam O Alaikum! On behalf of Executive Council of KEMCAANA, I wish you all a very happy and healthy new year. As the President of organization I feel privileged to have such a great team working with me to serve KEMU as well as the KEMCAANA membership.

This year marks the 150th Anniversary of King Edward Medical University. At the time of this historic milestone in the history of our Alma Mater, we feel lucky to be able to celebrate this joyous occasion. We should all pledge to achieve academic excellence including research facilities, and facilitate for students and professors at KEMU to access the most up to date medical information available anywhere in the world. During the past several years, KEMCAANA has been working closely with the Academic Council of our Alma Mater on various projects to achieve these goals. In December of 2009, many of KEMCAANA members met with the Executive Council at KEMU to discuss about update towards the curriculum reforms. It is certainly nice to know that a Department of Medical Education has been established at KEMU. The faculty attended a seminar in Curriculum Reform at Agha Khan University and is collaborating with them towards meaningful changes in the curriculum.

This year the arrangements for celebrations for the 150th Anniversary of KEMU are in full swing. APPNA's annual winter meeting is also going to be held at KEMU. We are planning to make this an unforgettable event.

Upcoming 5th Annual KEMCAANA Retreat is going to be held at Hyatt Regency at the Inner Harbor, Baltimore from March 19-21, 2010. This is a great opportunity for doing class reunions. In addition to a nice CME program we are going to hold strategic sessions, which will focus on various aspects to support KEMU as well as encouraging our membership to get involved with various KEMCAANA projects. The Host Committee and Executive Council of KEMCAANA are working hard to make it a memorable retreat.

We must strive to uplift KE and KEMCAANA. Looking forward to see you all in Baltimore.

With best regards,

M. Masood Akbar, M.D. KE 1973
