First of all, I’m grateful to Allah SWT for allowing me to serve as President of KEMCAANA. I am both humbled and honored to serve this great organization. We are living in challenging and historical times. The COVID-19 pandemic has greatly impacted us and the world around us. Many lives are lost and are still being lost every day. We also know many Kemcolians who have also lost their lives in the line of duty. May ALLAH SWT accept their sacrifices and place their souls in the highest place in Jannah. My thoughts and prayers are with their families and love ones.
I would take this opportunity to acknowledge Dr Samia Nawab Waseem for his outstanding leadership of our great organization in 2020. In 2021 we will make sure that all of the ongoing projects of KEMCAANA continue to grow. We will also strive to attain more participation especially that of our younger colleagues and of our friends in USA and Canada.
I would like to thank you, the Kemoclians, who donating generously during this past year. KEMCAANA has raised more than $100,000 for different projects and COVID-related PPE’s. KEMCAANA was one of the organization who distributed PPE’s in Pakistan, USA, and Canada. May Allah accept everyone’s donations and bless them and their families.
Due to the pandemic, it is a great challenge ahead to lead this organization, but I feel good days are coming soon. As you know, the vaccinations have started. InshAllah, we will soon return to normal life soon. As is tradition for the president of KEMCAANA, I have to hold a retreat to lay down my yearly agenda. Due to ongoing uncertainty, it looks unfortunately like we will not be able to have a retreat this year. I am hoping and praying we will be able to hold a summer meeting to see all of you.
I want to assure all of you I will do my best under the current circumstances to promote the mission of our beloved organization. I have already formulated and appointed members to different committees so we can accomplish our goals and continue our ongoing projects.
Here are a few of my goals for this year which I would like to accomplish:
1. Start a free KEMCAANA Telemedicine Clinics in North America and Pakistan to benefits the needy and with a focus on preventative care.
2. Expand KEMCAANA corneal transplant projects to other cities in Pakistan.
3. Grow the Mayo Hospital Indigent Patients Sadiqa Jaria Endowment Medications Funds for different specialties and to provide free medications for needy patients.
4. Increase our membership.
5. Update the KEMCAANA current website.
6. Published the Kemcolian Magazine in celebration of 160th years of KEMU.
For all of us, I look forward to a very productive and safe year. If you have any concerns or question, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me or my EC members. We look forward to your comments and questions. Wishing you and your families a healthy and happy New Year. Give back, safe lives, and make a difference!
