King Edward Medical College is important to me because it has, more than any other institution, shaped my life. I spent thirteen years at KEMC, seven of those as a student and the remaining six as a demonstrator in Anatomy and Biochemistry. It was here that I built the foundations of my professional career and met some of my dearest life-long friends. My first exposure to KEMCAANA came in 1980, when I was a 3rd year medical student and received the opportunity to be part of the Registration Team for the first CME meeting of KEMCAANA at KEMC. I was very impressed by the selfless, giving back spirit of KEMCAANA members. It was at that moment that I started dreaming of one day being part of such a great team. Being the President of this organization is a dream come true.
It is a great honor for me to serve as President of KEMCAANA, an organization which has been served by several incredible and accomplished members. As President of KEMCAANA I feel privileged to have a great team of dedicated and committed members working with me.In particular, I would like to thank Dr. Ahmed Mehdi Malik for his outstanding leadership of our organization in 2015.
KEMCAANA takes pride in several successful projects that it undertakes to fulfill our mission ofreaching out, giving back and changing lives. This includes over 100 undergraduate and post graduate scholarships, free medicines for indigent patients at Mayo Hospital, KEMCAANA House in Philadelphia for visiting medical graduates and medical students, Young Physicians Mentoring Program and KEMCAANA Students Club. In 2016 we will make sure that all of our ongoing projects continue to grow and we will work to develop new projects or ideas brought forward by our members. We will also strive to attain more participation, with a special focus towards our younger colleagues and our friends in Canada.
We will start 2016 with KEMCAANA Retreat in Las Vegas from March 17th-March 20th. I hope to see all of you there.
I would personally like to thank all of you for your continuous support and participation. We could not have been where we are now without such a tremendous level of support from all of you. I encourage you to consider participating in committees of your choice to continue the mission of our predecessors-reaching out, giving back and changing lives!
